This course is specifically focused to offer you tools to bring grounded and dramatic action to your work and to focus your imagination to actively create in music theatre. 

The process will offer you specific methods to explore and develop character, incorporate given circumstance, intention, and to bring high stakes obstacles into your musical work with a strong focus on text and music analysis. 

Director Nick Bowling and Musical Director Austin Cook recently collaborated together on the acclaimed Chicago premiere of Sondheim on Sondheim at Porchlight and it was in that environment they began to develop these techniques of balancing self and character to bring fresh interpretations to well known songs. 

This class is a one-of-a-kind opportunity to work privately with these renowned, multi-award winning artists, two of the leading directors and music directors working on the scene today. Students will have one on one time and observational learning during every class.

Classes take place at the Porchlight Rehearsal Studio, 4200 W Diversey Ave. (Just west of Pulaski)
